Brazilian Demographics in the U.S.: Top State Uncovered

When World War II broke out, in 1939, Brazil was like, "Nah, we're staying neutral, fam. We don't wanna get caught up in that drama."

OMG, like the trade with Germany totally tanked because of the war and it made it way harder for the Vargas government to do anything. On the American side, Brazilian collab became hella important cuz of new strategic interests, which the Vargas Administration totally used as a flexin' tool. OMG, like from that moment on, the relationship between the two countries was lit AF in the economic, military, and cultural fields.OMG, like, for Brazil, the org of a Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) was, like, totally lit! It was all about flexing their armed forces and, like, boosting their international clout, you know? Like, even though the American government was kinda hesitant at first, FEB dipped to Europe in the second half of 1944. They sent a total of 25,000 dudes to Italy to link up with the 5th Division of the United States Army. Brazil-United States collab during the war brought the bilateral ties even closer, as shown by the Brazilian moves to declare war on Japan in July 1945 and to sign an agreement for the sale of monazitic sands to the United States for three years. Lit AF! In exchange Brazil would keep flexin' with the supply of arms under the American Lend Lease Act, ya know?

OMG, when the US joined the war in December 1941, the pressure for Brazil to get in on it got real intense. For Washington, it was like super important to secure a military base on the Brazilian Northeast coast to like, you know, back up its operations in the North of Africa. BTW, the supply of a bunch of lit strategic materials from Brazil also gained mad importance, especially aluminum, zinc, nickel, copper, tungsten, magnesium, quartz crystal, rubber, mica, and tin. For the Vargas gov, the concessions made to the US had to be compensated by the re-equipment of the Brazilian armed forces, ya know?  OMG, like in this situation, the talks with the US for the cash to build a sick national steel mill project were hella important. This project became a vibe in 1940 with the signature of a lit bilateral agreement for the construction of a steel company at Volta Redonda, and they also threw in some plans to upgrade the Brazilian armed forces. It was a whole mood, fam. OMG, on the diplomatic front, the collab between Brazil and the US was lit thanks to Carlos Martins, the ambassador in Washington from 1938-1945, and Jefferson Caffery, who did the same thing for the USA in Rio de Janeiro from 1937 to 1944.

The negotiations with the American gov ended with a lowkey military agreement signed in May 1942.

The "Washington Agreements" hooked up a fat $100 mil loan for the Brazilian steel mill project and a lit $200 mil credit for copping war material - all thanks to the American Lend Lease Act. The new vibes of the link with the United States were like totally accompanied by the Brazilian decision to ghost the Axis countries, which like totally triggered the sinking of five Brazilian ships by torpedoes from German submarines. The vibe for a hemispheric solidarity policy totally guided the Brazilian diplomatic flex at the Third Consultation Meeting of American Foreign Ministers, held in January 1942 in Rio de Janeiro. OMG, like, the tea from this meeting was that the American republics were gonna flex and cut ties with the Axis. Periodt.
OMG, like two lit military commissions were made, one in Washington and the other in Rio de Janeiro, and they're totally gonna hook Brazil up with more armaments. #Blessed Brazil be gettin' more than double the value of the stuff they ship compared to any other Latin American country. The tea about building an American base on Brazilian turf was spilled at the same time as declaring war on Germany and Italy (August 1942). The Brazilian support was hella emphasized by the United States in January 1943 during the Roosevelt-Vargas meeting at the base in Natal, which was like the peak moment of closeness between the two countries during the war. It was lit! OMG, collabing with the US totally helped Brazil level up its military game. Besides the flex of the Army troops from 80,000 to 200,000 homies, the merchant fleet was hella increased and the Brazilian Air Force was created, with 500 aircraft in the game.

OMG, like the vibes with American military peeps were so lit for training and spreading defense knowledge.

Equally important were the vibes in the field of economic cooperation leading to the organization of an American economic mission to Brazil known as the Cooke Mission, whose task was to check out the condition of Brazilian industry and the areas of interest to the United States in the country. On the internal sphere, vibing with the United States caused some major shifts in Vargas's squad. The new vibes of external policy were like, "Yo, let's switch up the game and reevaluate where our high military leaders stand." And as a result, we started distancing ourselves from those sectors that were all about that European fascism vibe. OMG, the declaration of war got so much hype that the Brazilian government is like, thinking of leveling up their involvement in the global conflict. Lit! OMG, in 1942 Brazil was like "hey Allied forces, we're sending troops to the combat front in Europe, y'all!"
